Online Profiles
Having an online persona can affect your life in many ways depending on how you use it. You can create a whole other identity, a completely fictional you. With an online identity you can express yourself without fear of persecution. You can keep in touch with family, interact with friends, and express your creativity. But there are also people out there who will take advantage of the fact that they can remain anonymous. They will say hurtful or inappropriate things and no would ever know it was them.
Online, there usually isn't a way for websites to confirm the information you give them. You could easily make a FaceBook account as long as you had a name and an email, and making a fake email account is even easier. With a fake name and email you can create an account on almost any website you want. You could become 15 year old Natalie Jones, or 59 year old Jacob Williams within minutes. Unfortunately, so can everyone else. People create accounts under fake names and pose as someone else or a made up person so they can harass others. Harassing, threatening. or embarrassing others online is called cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is any sort of harassment, embarrassment, or threatening online.
